Spotting mopeds in the town hall
In the Pacific Ocean, just north of Australia, lies the archipelago of New Caledonia, an archipelago belonging to the French colonies. On the main island of Grande Terre lies the capital Nouméa, where since 2000 an annual collectors' fair and show (at that time called Stamp Day) has been organised in the town hall: the Salon de Collectionneurs. In 2024 this fair was held for the 24th time, from 11 to 13 October. At the show, some 30 collectors showed their collections. The main themes this year were sugar and sugar extraction, and… mopeds.
Two 2-wheeler collectors showed there collection in the hall, in total around 60 mopeds of different brands.
As for every fair a personalized stamp was issued, we still remember the older issue with the motorcycle:
The 2015 stamps
This time of course a moped was chosen. The choice fell on a Puch Maxi (?). Again in 2 different colours: the red one for inland post, and the blue for international mail.
Luxembourg has also been serving its customers with personal stamps for some time now.
Eric reported this sheet from this country with a cycling theme.
The (8) stamps used have a hexagonal shape. When an order exceeds the number of four sheets, you may put a different image on each stamp, and provide the block margin with its own background photo.
In this case, a scene from a cycling race is used, with a cameraman on the back of a motorbike making his report just visible. For your information.
Detail with the cameraman
Now we also know a personalized stamp with motorcycle image from the Phillipines! Immediately in a block with 4 different images.
