Goapex 2021

Nowadays virtual exhibitions are on the rise. Several websites offer the possibility to show your exhibition collection online, and often you can also participate in such a virtual pilot, say a test exhibition, during a physical show.
In Goa, a province in eastern India and the richest region of the country, the first virtual regional exhibition of India took place in the capital Panaji from 30 November to 2 December 2021: Goapex 2021.

The advantage was that the entire exhibition fitted in one computer. There was a large number of participating entries, including many thematic exhibits. All that was needed was a room for the officials and the prize giving. The "show" was a great success, and several of these exhibitions have already been organized or held in India.

But now about the thematic facts that are important to us. The organization still needed money to pay for several things related to the organization, and had therefore decided to release and sell various collectible envelopes, the India way. For example, 1000 envelopes of Tin-Can-Mail were issued. Actually transported as Tin-Can-Mail, so thrown into the sea in a soldered can before the coast of Niuafo'oa, in the hope that the can would wash ashore on the island and could therefore be delivered. Then another thousand envelopes that were sent by ferry, and here it comes: 1000 pieces of letters that have been transported by taxi motorcycles.

These taxi motorcycles are characteristic of Goa, because in this small province of 3700 km² with more than 1.5 million inhabitants, car traffic is always stuck, but motorcycles can pass through the traffic. The passenger then sits on the back of the motorcycle, with or without a helmet, and is transported by the rider to the place of destination. In the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill of 2018, Goa is the only province where the taxi motorcycle is allowed. The Goa board has determined the type of motorcycle that may be used: the Hero (read: Honda) Splendor+ with extended buddy seat. They must also be recognizable as a taxi through a yellow front fender and be predominantly black.

The letters transported for Goapex 2021 were driven from Panaji to Velha, bearing the driver's signature and the logo of India: 75 years of independence.
