Honorary Membership Hans de Kloet

During the MFN Autumn Meeting 2021 in Harmelen, the MFN officially said goodbye to Hans de Kloet as a board member. Since the foundation of the MFN, Hans has fulfilled all possible board positions for 34 years and has also been valuable to the club in many other ways. That is why the MFN board has nominated Hans for honorary membership by means of the following letter of recommendation:

Hans de Kloet has indicated during the general members' meeting in April 2021 that he will no longer stand for re-election as a board member for the MFN. He hands over the gavel, which he has held for 1 year, to Hans Baartman.

During the founding meeting in 1987, at the meeting organized by Jan Termaaten, Hans immediately made himself available as treasurer. After Nico Helling joined the board as secretary and Eric Mulder became treasurer, Hans threw himself into producing the Newsletter. When it was decided to organize an auction during the club days, Hans took up this task. Herman van der Maaten took over the production of the Newsletter.
When Jan Termaaten decided to stop in 2003, Herman van der Maaten succeeded him as chairman. After a period of three years, in 2006, Hans took on this task. He was committed to the MFN in this role until 2016. When the presidency went to Wybe Brouwer, Hans continued to work for the association as an auctioneer.
In addition to all this, as a source of information within the club, he ensures that many questions from members and non-members are answered. Not seldom we read this in one of the many articles written by him in the Newsletter.

From the club's foundation until now, Hans has committed himself to the MFN in all kinds of functions and activities. And that doesn't stop after his managerial duties end. He will continue to organise the auction, answer questions, write articles and so on for his club, the MFN.

We are of the opinion that Hans de Kloet has given the thematic association for motorcycle philately in our country a place in the philatelic world after it was founded, not only in the Netherlands but also beyond, and therefore the board of the MFN proposes him because of his special merit (co−founding and steering the association) for honorary membership of our association during the general members' meeting of October 23, 2021.

The proposal was unanimously accepted without hesitation, after which Hans Baartman presented the certificate of honorary membership to the visibly surprised Hans de Kloet.

He also handed over a sheet of personal stamps with gold overprint, with an image of Hans with a wooden Nimbus, his favorite motorcycle brand, in front of him.

Nico offered Hans a gift on behalf of the association: an aluminum wall sign with again a Nimbus and the logo of the MFN, together with the text "Thank you for all the years as MFN director".

Hans de Kloet thanked all those present for his appointment as Honorary Member. He is very honored and very happy with the gifts. The certificate will hang in his stamp room and the aluminum sign probably in the stairwell.
